CCAN Sanctuary 2.0 Proposal Embraced by Council Candidates Fisch & Lee

Today marks the one-year anniversary of the Culver City Council’s passage of a Sanctuary City resolution. Culver City Action Network (CCAN) led the campaign for sanctuary and has pressed for full implementation since then. This includes helping to defeat the CCPD’s recent proposal for an automated- license-plate reader contract with a private vendor that collaborates with federal immigration enforcers.

There is much more work to do, and CCAN has developed a Sanctuary 2.0 proposal to chart a path forward. This proposal builds on what we have learned this past year, which we summarize in our Sanctuary Report Card.

We are grateful that City Council candidates Alex Fisch and Daniel Lee have declared their support for Sanctuary 2.0. We welcome support from all candidates and from throughout the community. We look forward to working with the next Council to do everything in our power to support immigrants in our community, and to avoid endangering them in this time of vicious attacks from the Trump Administration.
